The base: the most critical point of the installation

One of the most common mistakes is thinking that SPC can be installed on any surface without prior preparation.
Although it is a rigid flooring, it needs a substrate:

• Clean
• Dry
• Firm
• Stable and correctly leveled

Irregularities in the floor slab create tension in the joining system, causing noise, movement, opening of joints or breakage of the click.

Recommendation
Always check the flatness of the support and correct any defects before installation.

HUMIDITY

The moisture content of the foundation slab: the most determining factor

One of the most common mistakes is not properly checking the moisture content of the substrate before installation.

The substrate must have a moisture content of less than 3%.

If this value is not respected, deformations, lifting, stresses in the pavement and loss of stability may appear, in addition to the cancellation of the guarantee.

Recommendation
Always measure the moisture content before installation. Under no circumstances should the flooring be installed if the moisture content exceeds 3%.

FIXINGS

Do not fix anything to the pavement.

SPC is a floating floor and requires freedom of movement.
Fixed elements such as the following should not be installed on it:

• Kitchen islands
• Wardrobes
• Anchored furniture
• Screens

Blocking the pavement causes stress and deformation.

Recommendation
Fixed elements must be installed before the paving or directly on the support.

JOINTS

Perimeter joint and expansion joints: essential

SPC flooring needs space to absorb movements resulting from temperature and environmental conditions.
Installing without a perimeter joint or compressing the material against walls and fixed elements can cause lifting or opening of joints.

Recommendation
RAlways seal the perimeter joint and install expansion joints according to the conditions indicated by the manufacturer.
The pavement must not be blocked at any point.

IXPE INTEGRATED

Built-in base: no need to add extra layers

Euro Trade Flooring’s SPC flooring incorporates a factory-integrated IXPE acoustic underlay, designed to work in conjunction with the product system to ensure its stability, comfort, and performance.
No additional base should be added.
Adding an extra layer can cause instability, excessive flexing, and failure of the joining system.

Recommendation
Install directly onto the prepared support.

INSTALLATION

Follow the manufacturer’s instructions

Each SPC flooring has its own installation conditions:

• Humidity limits
• Support conditions
• Installation type
• Surface limitations
• Compatibility with underfloor heating

Failure to respect them may affect the final result and the warranty.
